Metadata
Idea: A master boot record is really just a file metadata database, why not extend it with other info? Of course it would probably have to be a defined size, but IDs can be a defined size and can point to the location of the metadata corresponding to a file. Things like permissions, dates, tags, names, geotags, whatever, are a vital part of any extended file system, and they should be coded into...

Deleting
Idea: Never save or delete anything, throw it off screen and it saves and closes, “deal with later.” Don’t save filenames, save thumbnails and/or some lines/general topic. “Deleted” things get saved/moved to an area where they may be rewritten if space repuires, but not necessarily. Of course there would be an option to completely remove sensitive items.

GPS units are like wandering into a godless world before anyone thought up the crazy idea of having standardized APIs, and just decided to do the same 20 functions a thousand times.
The interesting part was watching my dad try to delete some tracks he’d just transferred off the GPS, and were sitting in the oh-so-fun Garmin MapSource. There’s a list of tracks in a pane on the left...
